How did the work of art you chose inspire you to make this avatar?
You know, at first it was all about her scales and Aztec-looking wings. I really wanted to play off that with a bodysuit-- I was thinking something high-collared like the Astral or Blazing Bodysuits. Neither was in the right color. Then MayQ Venom came to the party. I realized instead of directly mimicking anything going on in the painting I could pay tribute to the blocky geometric shapes and colors with some clever use of cut-outs (down to the feet).

The color matching isn't perfect, but if you look closely at the painting, there are several shades of blue, red, and green. I tried to keep everything in the same family. Warm reds, bright emerald greens, and a blue that really pops. The sequins on the torso are even meant to mimic the scales on the girl in the painting. And of course, the wings are still there.

Overall, I'm proud of the result. It does remind me of the original art piece. If I could change a few things, I would have tried to put more bright yellow into this instead of just the pale gold. I would have liked to have better represented the green as well.

Alternate version that was too late to enter, but I'm much happier with this!
