I've been familiar with Salvador Dali's work for some time now, and when I saw one of my favorite paintings by him The Weaning Furniture-Nutrition, I definitely wanted to use it as the basis for my avatar. What really stands out to me is the powerful essence and emotion. You see this broken and beaten down soul trying to find rest. Perhaps they're at the end of their days, or the end of days as they know it. I really wanted to exemplify that in my avatar. I wanted to portray this person having lost something, or having had something crucial taken from them. Their will. They have nothing but the clothes on their back and the scars to prove it. But they're alive and as discomforting as their reality may be, they're still around to experience it.
