Yes, by Ann Patchett. I read it a few years ago. I can't remember all of it, but I'm pretty sure it was a hostage story. If I remember correctly, the protagonist was an opera singer (?). This HA reminded me a little bit of the ladies who dress up for operas, hence Bel Canto xD
